Deadline for Submission of Essays is March 30, 2010 In June 2010, four Grade 11-12 students who have demonstrated leadership in their community through involvement in groups, events, and activities that foster cross-cultural learning and understanding within both school and community will receive the Lynch-Getty Award. Two Canadian and two international fee-paying students will receive an award valued at $1000. OCENET $1 MILLION CONTRIBUTION TO OCDSB

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board received a cheque for one million dollars from the Ottawa-Carleton Education Network (OCENET) at its May 13 Board Meeting. Director of Education, Dr. Lorne Rachlis says the money is in addition to the two million dollars that OCENET annually contributes to the District. The million dollar bonus is a result of profits made over the last eight years, according to OCENET Executive Director, Geoff Best.

Dr. Rachlis told those in attendance that OCENET’s objective is to provide international students with an opportunity to experience quality education in the Nation’s Capital. He described the program as mutually beneficial. He jokingly added, “That he hoped it would take less than eight years for the next million dollar bonus cheque to arrive.” The funds received from OCENET are used to supplement and enhance the unique programming that is offered by OCDSB.
